Screen recording on Snapchat without notifying

Screen recording on Snapchat

Do you want to screenshot or take screen recording on Snapchat?

Snapchat is a mobile app that is known for notifying its users with every little detail.

So does it send a notification when you screen record a chat or a story?

This article contains:

Does Snapchat notify when you screen record a chat?

The answer is yes. Snapchat sends an in-chat message to the user.

When you take a screenshot of your chat with someone on Snapchat, they get a notification on their phone. The notification states “So and so has taken a screenshot of your chat”.

Likewise, when you screen records a chat with another user, they are notified stating that their chat has been screen recorded by you.

So if you’re planning to take a screenshot or to screen record keep in mind that the other person will be aware of your action.

Does Snapchat notify when you screen record a story?

But what if it comes to a Snapchat story? Will Snapchat inform the story poster that you have screen recorded their story? Or take a screenshot of their story?

Again yes. Snapchat tries to make its users safe and in control of their actions on the application.

So when you take a screenshot or screen record a story posted on Snapchat by a user they will absolutely get notified.

But Snapchat does not differentiate between a screenshot and a screen recording when it comes to a story.

It simply displays a double-green arrow next to your name under their story. Hence they will not be able to make sure if its a screenshot or a screen recording you’ve taken.

How to take a screenshot or recording without notifying them?

Well of course, just like every other obstruction there is a loophole.

If you want to screen record or take a screenshot of a story or chat on Snapchat there is a simple way to do so without sending a notification.

All you have to do is make use of “Airplane” mode on your handset. The basic technicality of this is that when you turn on Airplane mode, your mobile doesn’t have any network and hence no internet connection.

When you turn on the Airplane mode your Wi-Fi or data connection will automatically be disabled.

Without any internet connection, Snapchat will not be able to detect your action such as taking a screenshot or a screen recording.

Steps to take a screenshot without detection:

  1. On you mobile, open your Snapchat application
  2. Next, pull down the notification bar.
  3. On your notification bar, click on the Airplane mode to turn it on.
  4. Once its on, go ahead and take a screenshot or a screen recording.

Snapchat will not be able to detect and thus it won’t send any notification about the screenshot that has been taken.
