How to remove your profile picture on Facebook?

Login to your Facebook application on your mobile or your laptop. When you enter the app, you’ll land in the news feed which is the main page.

On your mobile, you’ll see the menu icon which is a 3-lined icon at the bottom right corner of the screen, click on the icon. It’s quite similar to the desktop as well. This guide will assist you in removing your profile picture on whichever device you’re using.

Under the menu, you’ll find a number of options among them are Facebook name and profile picture.

Under that select “View profile“, once you do this the page will take you to your Facebook profile.

Here you’ll see your cover photo and your profile picture.

Now click on your profile picture to open another menu.

Note: Do not click on the “Camera” icon, that is to take a photo at the moment to set it as your profile picture.

The menu has 4 options, among those click on “View profile picture“.

Now the screen displays a full size of your profile picture. Tap on the 3 dots at the top right corner of your screen.

Under that select “Delete photo” which is the very first option on that menu.

Once you click on “Delete photo” your Facebook profile picture will be removed. Now it can only be seen as a white silhouette on a blue background. This silhouette is the default picture set by Facebook.

Once you see the default profile picture it means you have successfully removed your profile picture.

You can leave it like this if you wish.

Uploading a new picture as your profile picture

Or you can upload a new one to keep your Facebook profile updated. To upload or change a Facebook profile picture is altogether easy.

To change your profile picture:

Proceed to your Facebook application.

On your main page (which is the news feed), you’ll see a 3-lined menu icon on the top right corner of your screen.

Tap the menu icon and then click on your profile picture.

Once you click on your profile picture, you’ll be displayed 4 options: Take a photo, Upload a photo, Add frame, and View profile picture.

Choose from among these whichever action you wish to take.

Once you’ve selected a picture, click on Save. And you’re done!

How to remove your profile picture without deleting it?

The only way to do this is to set your settings as “Only me“.

On your Facebook application, go to your profile and click on your profile picture.

Next select “View profile picture” and tap on the 3 dots to open the menu.

Go ahead and select “Edit privacy” and the “Only me“.

After this only you’ll be able to see your profile picture. It will no longer be visible to your friends or any other Facebook User.

Conclusion

A profile picture plays a significant role in finding your connections. It is harder to search for friends on Facebook with just their names. Adding a personal touch to it with a picture of yourself (which is up to date) makes the process 10 times easier.

But if you use a picture that’s been taken ages ago, your friends will find it harder to recognize you.
